Several people have spoken up about the newly released music video of Khalil Fong’s song, denying that it was AI generated.
On 1 March, the late singer-songwriter’s music label Fu Music released the music video for Khalil’s “Twenty-Three”. The MV is presented from a first-person perspective, showing the protagonist driving an SUV and encountering various characters and events along the way.
At the end of the video, the camera cuts through a crowd, revealing Khalil, dressed in a dark blue denim jacket, jeans, round-framed glasses, and a hat, playing guitar and singing. The surrounding crowd light up their phones and sing along, as he closes his eyes, completely absorbed in the moment.

The final scene of the music video displays the words, “A tribute to Khalil Fong, and dedicated to every dreamer.”
Many who watched the MV expressed how moved they were to see the singer for the last time. However, some questioned whether the footage of Khalil was AI-generated.
Following the release, several individuals claiming to be extras involved in the filming emphasised that the segment of Khalil playing the guitar was real, revealing that it was filmed on 18 October 2024, in Songjiang, Shanghai.
They explained that because there were no road closures during filming, the team frequently had to give way to passing vehicles and pedestrians, causing considerable delays, but that the scene ultimately took over an hour to complete.
