The Hsu family has recently dismissed reports claiming that Barbie Hsu was planning to move to South Korea prior to her passing.
On 22 July, several Taiwanese news outlets reported that the late actress had planned to leave Taiwan with her two children to live with husband Koo Jun-yup to avoid harassment and have the kids grow up in a more peaceful environment.
The report claimed that Barbie had planned her asset allocation in advance, intending to transfer tens of millions of NT dollars of assets to South Korea.
It then stated that in order to appease her mother, the actress had made plans to transfer her luxury apartment to her mother. However, Barbie passed away before formalities were completed.
When asked about it, Barbie’s mother, Huang Chun-mei, responded, “I don’t want to answer questions from a media outlet that didn’t even interview me. I don’t know what they’re writing about. But knowing it’s not positive, I definitely won’t read it.”
Meanwhile, the Hsu family clarified that Barbie had always loved Taipei and that she never even moved to mainland China when she was married to Wang Xiaofei in the past. The family added that the possibility of her transferring a large amount of assets to South Korea is low, which also contradicts her life plans before her death.
Her close friends also denied this, saying that many outside claims are merely speculation. They urged the public to respect the family and not overemphasise unverified reports to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and distress.
