Having finally been nominated Best Actor at the upcoming Hong Kong Film Awards, Carlos Chan admitted that that piece of news itself was encouragement enough for him as an actor.

The actor, who recently made an appearance in Causeway Bay to promote his new movie “Ultimate Revenge”, said that he doesn’t want to think too much about winning or losing, and will just leave it to fate.

“It’s enough to do justice to the roles I play,” he said.

As this is his first time competing for Best Actor in about 19 years in the industry, Carlos said that he is grateful to those who have nurtured and helped him.

“When I saw Michelle Wai, whom I’ve known since my debut, announce the nominations and cry tears of joy for me, it made me go from being very calm to suddenly feeling like I ‘had a chance’,” he admitted.

Carlos, who was nominated for “Someone Like Me,” will be facing tough competition from the likes of Louis Cheung, Tony Leung Kar Fai and Louis Koo – the latter who is nominated for two movies.
