Chinese actress Wang Tianyu has recently spoken up regarding her recent birthday cake disaster, saying that she hopes what happened to her will be a lesson to everybody.

The actress recently went viral online, after her attempt to do the “fire-breathing” cake trend took a turn for the worst. Wang, who decided to use alcohol to get the flame effect, was shocked when the alcohol vapor quickly ignited upon contact with the fire, and caused the flames to rush towards her face and neck.

She later revealed that her chin and neck sustained some burns, and that she even singed a part of her hair, eyelashes and eyebrows.

Fortunately, Wang did not inhale the flames, which meant that her respiratory tract was not damaged. She received immediate medical treatment and is currently in stable condition.

Speaking about the whole incident, Wang said that she had seen several videos of people doing that trend on RedNote, and thought that it was cool.

Saying that the videos did not give any danger warnings or safety reminder, she admitted, “I thought it was a safe trendy way to do it, so I followed suit. But I used 96 percent alcohol, and the flame suddenly backfired, burning my chin and neck. I’m still recovering.”

She said that she hoped to use her own experience to remind everyone to be vigilant and not to imitate others just for the views.
