Wong Cho Lam has finally revealed the reason why he decided to resign from his TVB Chief Creative Officer post back in 2021, and no, it has nothing to do with Linda Chung.
Previously, it was rumoured that the former TVB actor had invited Linda to fly all the way to Hong Kong from Canada to attend the TVB Anniversary Awards that same year, sparking speculations that the actress may finally win her first TVB Best Actress awards for “Kids’ Lives Matter”.
However, she instead lost for the 11th time, after Rosina Lam won the award.
Some claimed that Wong felt guilty toward Linda over this matter and therefore chose to resign from his position at TVB.
In a recent interview, Wong denied that that was the case. He recalled that inviting Linda to return to Hong Kong for the awards ceremony was purely out of friendship.
However, it was because he felt that he lacked the ability to handle interpersonal and personnel issues.
When asked whether he sensed the so-called “factional” or “clique” culture during his time as TVB’s Chief Creative Officer, Wong said, “As long as there are people, factions are inevitable. Once there are more than two people, factions will naturally form. It’s a very normal phenomenon.”
He added that every company has factions and admitted that he was just powerless in dealing with such a culture.
