Mackenyu recently revealed that he will now be identified by the name Mackenyu Maeda and not Mackenyu Arata as before.
The actor shared the news on 31 October via social media, writing on Instagram Stories, “While cherishing the path I have walked so far and never forgetting my roots, I would like to continue to challenge myself in my own way.”
“I look forward to your continued support. Mackenyu Maeda.”
It is noted that his profile on his agency’s website already uses the name “Mackenyu Maeda.”
The actor, who is also the son of the late actor Sonny Chiba, previously changed his stage name from Mackenyu to Mackenyu Arata in May 2017, inspired by his breakthrough role Arata Wataya in the live-action film trilogy, “Chihayafuru”.
Maeda is his original surname, as father Sonny was born Sadaho Maeda.
