Joker Xue has surprised many when he revealed that he plans to retire in six years’ time.
The 44-year-old singer shared as much in “Music Project 3” recently, saying in the interview that he hopes to retire when he turns 50.
Joker also said that he hopes to see more original musicians stepping up to take over before he retires, and that he is also planning to step back and support newcomers before leaving the stage.
It is noted that this is not the first time that the singer has mentioned such a plan.
He previously made a comment about retiring at 50 during a livestream, but that his words were taken as a joke by his fans.
The singer, real name Xue Zhiqian, released his debut album as Jacky Xue back in 2006, after placing fourth in “My Style, My Show” the year before. He changed his English stage name to Joker in 2016 to better match his online persona.
In 2020, he established his own label, Chaoshi Music.
