Seventeen’s special unit S.Coups and Mingyu has set a new milestone in K-pop subunit history with the release of their debut EP, “Hype Vibes.”

On Monday, Hanteo Chart revealed that the EP has sold 887,581 copies in its first week (29 Sept to 5 Oct), debuting at No. 1 on the weekly album chart. The duo shattered the previous subunit sales record just four days after the album dropped, surpassing 840,000 copies sold.

S.Coups and Mingyu expressed, “Every moment of making this album was vibrant and exciting. Our activities are far from over, so please continue to enjoy the diverse content we have in store.”

Meanwhile, in Japan, the album topped Oricon’s Daily Album Ranking for three consecutive days, while in China, it hit No. 1 on QQ Music’s daily and weekly “Digital Best-Selling Albums” charts.

The title track, “5, 4, 3 (Pretty Woman)”, which also features Lay Bankz, debuted at No. 1 on Bugs’ real-time chart, with every track on the album entering Melon’s Top 100.

Before the album’s release, its dance challenge went viral online, racking up over 180 million views. Members The8 and Seungkwan, along with American rapper Lay Bankz herself, took part in the trend.
