Jacquelin Chng recently made her first public appearance since her mother’s passing last month.

The model-actress, who attended Kev Yiu’s fashion show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, stated that she has recovered emotionally and will resume her work, which she believes is what her mother would have wanted.

However, when speaking of her mother, she still couldn’t help but tear up.

When asked about the illness that caused her mother’s passing, she said it was private and she didn’t want to disclose it.

When further asked if her two younger sisters’ recent marriages and engagements fulfilled her mother’s wishes, she said, “Yes, many of my mother’s friends attended Lisa’s wedding, some of whom I hadn’t seen in a long time, and we could all chat.”

As for the recent backlash over her decision to share on social media a short video of her mother’s funeral in Malaysia, she clarified that there was no livestream that day, only video recording.

She explained that funeral rites in Malaysia and Hong Kong are different, and the funeral hall had a sea of flowers that her mother loved, so she wanted to record that scene.

Jacquelin emphasised that the footage was only filmed by family members and posted on her private social media account, and that she did not expect it to generate such a large response.
