A year after going on hiatus, imase announced that he will be resuming his music activities.
Sharing the news with a letter posted on social media on 4 September, the singer shared his experience of taking a break from work, writing, “I tried things I had never done before, things I wanted to try, such as drawing pictures, making games, and traveling.”
“By learning ways of outputting other than music and being exposed to various forms of expression, I was also able to confront music again, thinking, ‘I want to make this kind of music,’ and ‘Maybe I can do this now.'”
Regarding the reason for the hiatus, he admitted that he was unable to keep up with the pace.
“I didn’t have the capacity to confront my doubts and conflicts, and as a result of that time piling up, my feelings became fragmented, and I was unable to put them back together properly,” he said.
imase continued, “However, it was because of this period that I was able to think about what it means to face myself head-on. Some things have changed compared to before the hiatus, and some things haven’t. I may have become stronger, and I may have become weaker. Given my personality, I think I will continue to have doubts in the future, but I have found a way and an environment to deliver songs that can only be created at that particular time, without turning away from them.”
The singer then announced that he will be releasing a new EP, “Hatena” on 2 October.
