Anita Yuen and Jennifer Yu are working together for the first time as the leads in the new movie, “Yuk Mong Gei Sang” (translated as “Parasite”).
Anita, who is making her Hong Kong movie return after seven years, shared that she decided to accept the movie due to director Terry Ng Ka-wai’s sincerity, feeling that he had crafted an interesting story into a script worthy of support.
She revealed that the director also offered several options to her to choose her co-star, and she immediately chose Jennifer Yu, saying, “Jennifer Yu has a very distinctive look and is perfect for the role. Perhaps the director had already chosen her, but was just politely asking me.”
Anita stated that the two played good friends in the film, making it easy for them to immerse themselves in the role without any adjustment period.
Meanwhile, Jennifer admitted that she was deeply moved upon hearing this, saying, “I only just found out about this. Hearing that the film revolves around the story of two women, I agreed to give it a try, as I’ve never played a similar role before.”
“I told my husband that the biggest gain from filming this movie was working with Anita Yuen. She truly is a goddess, and she’s very friendly,” she expressed.
The upcoming movie will also co-star Ali Lee, Ti Lung, and Michelle Yim among others.
