Li Xian recently made history by becoming the first Chinese artiste to be involved in a FIFA World Cup pre-match ceremony, though it was not as fans expected.
First, fans were upset after finding out that the ceremony was not televised, and that they had to watch it via videos that were uploaded by spectators who attended the Spain Group H match against Saudi Arabia.
Secondly, videos from the ceremony revealed that it was not the traditional kick-off that they expected, but a simple gesture of Li Xian walking out to the pitch and placing the ball on a designated pedestal before the teams appeared.
He was then seen waving to the crowd and posing for photos before leaving the pitch.
However, despite the simple ceremony, Li Xian was still elated to be a part of the ceremony as Adidas’ global ambassador.
The actor took to social media to express his gratitude, writing, “Honoured to deliver the official match ball for #fifaworldcup and witness a great match!”
