Benjamin Yuen recently clarified himself over an issue regarding a movie project that he was involved in, after he decided to share and then deleted stills from the said film from social media.

The actor, who spoke to the media at a charity event he attended with wife Bowie Cheung, said that the whole issue sparked after he posted stills from a Malaysian film he stars in on social media, which sparked controversy after some accused him of not understanding industry rules and revealing spoilers.

Benjamin explained that he had been filming in Malaysia for five months since last December, and during that period he continuously uploaded stills to social media.

He added that the production team also provided new photos following production.

“Soon after, the production team realised that some of the photos might contain spoilers, so they decided to withdraw them. I’m not very familiar with how social media works, so I deleted the entire post. Afterwards, I learned that you can actually remove only specific photos without taking down the whole post,” he said.

At the same time, Benjamin said that publicity methods in Malaysia are different from those in Hong Kong, and that both he and the production team shared responsibility for the incident.

“The spoilers were unintentional,” he added.

Benjamin was in Malaysia since early this year filming “Black Ops,” helmed by Malaysia’s Shafiq Yusof and Hong Kong’s Keian Chui, and starring big names like Sharnaaz Ahmad, Aaron Aziz, Hisyam Hamid, and Andy Teh.
