Shu Qi recently posted several photos on social media, celebrating her first win at the Hong Kong Film Awards as a director.
The actress-turned-filmmaker, who won Best New Director for her work on her directorial debut, “Girl,” shared multiple images from the event itself that was held on 19 April, including an image from the back of the stage from when she was doing her acceptance speech; a close-up image of her accolade; as well as a photo of her celebrating her win.
However, the photo that caught everyone’s attention was the last one of her and husband Stephen Fung smiling brightly as the latter held the accolade.
“Have a great day,” she captioned the post.

“Girl” received four nominations at this year’s Hong Kong Film Awards, with Shu Qi alone nominated for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best New Director.
When she accepted her award on stage, the actress joked in Cantonese, “I never imagined that after 30 years in the Hong Kong film industry, I could win the ‘Newcomer Award’ again! The reason I won against other new directors isn’t because they weren’t good enough, but because I’m too old.”
Shu Qi had previously won Best Director at the Busan Award and Best New Director at the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild Award.
