Michelle Wai recently admitted that she felt sorry for her husband, Dr. Kenley Chau, after his marriage proposal to her didn’t go as romantic as he hoped.

The actress recently shared about her married life in an exclusive interview with “Behind the Stars,” and revealed that she made a mistake of being annoyed by him for popping the question when he did it a few years ago, as she was preparing for her new movie.

“Initially, it was just a dinner party, but it turned out he invited all my family and my most important friends. It was such a surprise. He then knelt down and proposed. At that moment, I was a little dazed and even a little resentful! Because at the time, I was preparing for [my movie] ‘The Last Dance’ and my emotions were completely focused on it!” she said.

“You know, I practice swordplay every day and memorise my lines every day, so I was like, ‘Do you know this will affect my character’s emotions?’ It was really unfortunate,” she added.

Michelle said that though they eventually had a happy ending, she did feel guilty towards her now husband for ruining the perfect moment.

“I used to put my career first, and I need to apologise to him for giving him a bad memory,” she added.

The actress also sang praises for her husband, saying that he made her feel that she could entrust her life to him.

“I’m an actress, and my emotions fluctuate easily. I laugh easily and get upset easily. I think it’s easy to make me laugh, but it’s very difficult to make me calm down. He doesn’t use sweet words like ‘Don’t be angry’. He analyses things rationally and asks me what happened and why I’m unhappy. He can sort out my emotions, and that’s very important. When I’m with him, my anger lasts very short, which makes me feel that this is the one,” she said.
