Felix Wong has surprised many by announcing that he is retired from the entertainment industry.
The actor shared the news on 5 December at a press conference in Causeway Bay, saying that he no longer has a passion for acting and will no longer be filming. He admitted that he hasn’t made time for himself over the years, and now he can finally do the things that he enjoys.
“After so many years, I know I can’t return to my former peak, so I’d rather leave a good impression on the audience,” he added.
Speaking to the media afterwards, Felix stressed that he was serious about retirement.
“There are many promising young talents; I hope they work hard and use their expertise to become new idols in Hong Kong!” he said.
Asked if he would make a comeback if daughter Adrian asks him to, he said, “She knows my personality; she won’t ask!”
It is noted that Felix, who made his acting debut in 1980 with dramas like “The Bund” and “The Broken Thread,” had already reduced his projects after wife Leung Kit Wah fell ill. Following her passing in 2020, he shifted his focus more on family and personal interests.
The actor once stated, “[My wife] was my number one fan. Every time she watched my performances, she would give me feedback. Because she had a strong analytical ability, I can improve. Since she passed away, she no longer sees me acting, so what’s the point of continuing?”
