Guo Yuxin has recently addressed the recent viral topic about a certain black dress, after netizens noticed that she has worn it several times in the past.
A few days ago, the topic “Guo Yuxin wore the same dress three times” unexpectedly went viral, becoming the most talked-about topic among netizens. Some discovered that the black dress with sequined top that the actress wore on the red carpet and at the Hengdian Micro-Short Drama Night on 2 November had already appeared twice before; once in her personal video shoot in 2023 and again at the start of production ceremony of her drama series in 2024.
The same dress, worn three times, directly broke the unspoken rule in the entertainment industry that “dresses should never be repeated,” and had fans blasting her management team for not paying attention to her.
When asked about the viral topic, Guo responded on 11 November that she didn’t expect it to trend on social media.
She explained that the dress was a custom-made gift from designer Peng Jing when she first entered the industry, incorporating many traditional Chinese elements. For her, it was more than just a dress, as it symbolised the starting point of her career.
“Wearing it to my first awards ceremony was a way of expressing gratitude and respect to my seniors,” she added.
As for why she chose to wear her old dress to an event like the Hengdian Micro-Drama Night, Guo said that the day’s schedule was packed, changing clothes was inconvenient, and in her mind, “presenting the work is more important than the styling.”
However, she also stated that she would try more different looks in the future, but the core will always be the work itself.
