It was reported that a fire had broken out on the set of Ju Jingyi’s new costume drama, “Veil of Shadows”.
The incident was reported to have occurred on 20 March, when a house was lit up on fire after a mishap concerning a bonfire scene. It was reported that the actors were preparing to shoot a campfire scene when the fire got out of control and accidentally ignited a structure nearby.
It was reported that Ju was rehearsing a dance with several other dancers at the time, and immediately escaped the scene when the fire spread.
According to a report, after the fire, the Hengdian city council and local fire department said they had not received any notification regarding the incident.
Director Guo Jingming told the public, “No one was injured, everyone is fine, only one thatched house was burned.”
Nonetheless, many netizens questioned his response, seeing that images and videos from the scene showed that the fire had spread even wider than just one house.
