Prime Video has announced that the Korean series “Newtopia” will feature Blackpink’s Jisoo in a compelling zombie apocalypse drama alongside top actor Park Jeong-min. Making a significant leap from her music career, Jisoo takes a leading role as Kang Young-joo, a character navigating a city overrun by zombies while trying to reunite with her boyfriend.
Prime Video customers in more than 240 countries and territories, excluding Korea, can watch episodes of “Newtopia” beginning on 7 February 2025.

Jisoo plays Kang Young-joo, a rookie in the workforce who finds herself in the midst of a zombie outbreak. As her relationship with Jae-yoon (Park Jeong-min) becomes strained by distance and misunderstandings, she must quickly adapt to survive the chaos. The series promises to showcase a different side of the K-pop star, highlighting her acting abilities beyond her previous supporting roles in shows like “The Producer” and “Arthdal Chronicles”, and her breakthrough lead performance in “Snowdrop”.
While Lee Jae-yoon (Park Jeong-min) leads his military squad through the crisis, Young-joo (Jisoo) emerges as a resilient character fighting to survive and reunite with her boyfriend. The first look stills suggest a dynamic story that blends personal drama with intense zombie action, offering fans a chance to see Jisoo in a dramatically different light.

Award-winning actor Park Jeong-min co-stars, bringing his acclaimed acting skills to complement Jisoo’s performance. Known for her global popularity with Blackpink and her growing reputation as an actress, Jisoo is expected to captivate audiences with her portrayal of Young-joo in this action-packed series.
“Newtopia” is directed by Yoon Sung-hyun, known for films “Bleak Night” and “Time to Hunt”. The series is co-written by Han Jin-won and Jee Ho-jin, with Han having previously co-written the film “Parasite”.
With Jisoo taking center stage, this unique zombie story promises action, romance, and comedy. Fans can watch “Newtopia” on Prime Video weekly from 7 February through 21 March, as the K-pop star showcases her dramatic talents in a high-stakes apocalyptic narrative.
