“America’s Got Talent” star Jane Marczewski, known to many by the moniker Nightbirde, has recently passed away.
The news was confirmed by her family, in a statement that read, “We, her family, are devastated by her passing and unimaginable loss. Many remember her from America’s Got Talent, where she performed her song ‘It’s OK’ and inspired millions of people around the globe with her messages of faith and never giving up.”
“Those who knew her, enjoyed her larger-than-life personality and sense of humor. She had a witty joke for every occasion – even if the joke was on her. Her lasting legacy will be the gift of hope she gave to so many through her music and the strength she found in Jesus,” the statement added.
Marczewski, who hailed from Ohio, became a fan favourite when she performed her original song, “It’s Okay” in the 2021 edition of the said show, revealing that the song was about the last year of her life, and that she was a cancer patient whose condition has spread into her lungs, spine and liver.
“It is important that everyone knows that I am much more than the bad things that happen to me,” she said with a smile during her performance that earned her a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell.
Despite her success, Marczewski withdrew from the competition midway after her condition had taken a turn for the worse since her audition.
The show has also released a statement regarding her passing, that read, “Your voice, your story, and your message touched millions. Nightbirde will always be a member of the AGT family. Rest In Peace, Jane.”
“We are saddened to learn about @_nightbirde’s Passing. Our Condolences goes to her Closest Family & Friends in such of This difficult time. We Love you, Nightbirde,” host Terry Crews posted.
Judge Heidi Klum posted on IG Story, “We love you. Rest in peace @nightbirde.”
“@_nightbirde was such a bright inspirational light in all our lives. We must continue to live and learn from her words and lyrics. As much as I feel horribly about her passing, I feel lucky to have met, heard and known her,” judge Howie Mandel tweeted.
She was 31.
