Things might not be hunky dory for Taiwanese content creator Chen Neng-chuan, better known as Goodnight Chicken, after his release from Cambodian prison, as he faces legal troubles back home.
In a letter published on his social media on 1 February, the YouTuber updated on his recent situation, saying that he will be released in 28 days. He also revealed he is currently wanted by Taiwanese police for failing to appear for questioning in two separate trespassing cases.
“This is the first time in my life that I have become a wanted criminal. I will probably be handcuffed and taken away at the airport,” he wrote.
Goodnight Chicken then appealed directly to authorities: “I will obediently give my statement when I return to Taiwan. Please don’t handcuff me, officers. I don’t want to come back and get in a police car again.”

The content creator, who has been imprisoned in Cambodia for nearly two years alongside fellow influencer Anow (Lu Tsu-hsien), reflected on his time behind bars.
“I’ve become very shy these past two years. I occasionally write and read every day. My inner self has been nurtured for two years, but I know I need to face all the problems,” he said.
Chen and Lu were sentenced to two years’ imprisonment in February 2024 after faking a kidnapping incident in Cambodia. The pair claimed they had broken into a scam compound in Sihanoukville and were being pursued and beaten, later posting videos claiming they needed help. The fabricated incident alarmed Cambodian authorities, and both were fined a combined USD 2,000 and banned from re-entering the country.
In closing his letter, Chen apologised to his family and fans: “I hope that day comes soon. I’ll get my graduation certificate soon, and I’ll be back from studying abroad soon. Brothers and sisters, please wait for me.”
