Actor Yang Joon Mo and former SPICA and UNI.T member Yang Jiwon are getting married, and they are expecting their first child together.
Yang Jiwon broke the news on Instagram on 24 August, sharing wedding shoot photos alongside a heartfelt message.
“Everyone, I’m getting married!” she wrote, admitting it “didn’t quite feel real” at first but has been sinking in gradually. The couple had originally planned to marry early next year, but moved things up after learning she was pregnant: “we are incredibly grateful to have been blessed with a new life. So next year, when I turn 40, I will become a mother.”
She described starting a family as one of her longest-held wishes, now finally coming true “with the person I love.” Of her husband-to-be, she wrote that the two are different in some ways and alike in others, adding that he has “helped me grow closer to God” and deepened her desire to build a life of faith together. She closed by asking fans for their support: “As the sweltering days of summer draw to a close, please bless our new beginning.”
Yang Joon Mo shared his own post the same day, using it to also belatedly confirm he and his ex-wife had divorced back in 2023. He explained his long silence: “The reason I chose not to speak about this was, above all, because I wanted to protect my young daughter from being hurt or subjected to unnecessary attention.” He added that their daughter “is also doing well and growing up healthy while surrounded by love,” and that he and his ex-wife continue to support one another as they build separate lives.
Of Yang Jiwon, he wrote that she “stayed by my side, gave me strength and warmth, and helped me find laughter again” as he rebuilt his life, and that the two are now “preparing to become a family.”
He asked fans to “warmly bless this new beginning for the two of us.”
