Rumours are rife that Lareina Song is planning to change her stage name to her original name, after deciding to use her birth name for her new drama.
The actress, who was born Sun Fanqing, debuted using the stage name Song Zu’er as a child actress in 2007. It was alleged that her agency not only changed her surname to Song, but also used the name to register her school records, preventing her from sitting for China’s high school entrance examination.
Lareina reportedly had no choice but to continue her studies in the United States because of this.
However, in a recent post made by the team of “Enter the Game,” which is Lareina’s new drama, the actress was listed as “Sun Fanqing” instead of “Song Zu’er”.
Although all the other actors also used their real names to abide by the new rules set by China Television Drama Production Industry – that requires actors of the same level to use their real names in the credits – other actors’ stage names were listed with their birth name as a way to identify themselves.
However, Lareina’s name remained as Sun Fanqing and did not use the format “Sun Fanqing (Song Zu’er)” in the post.
It was also reported that she introduced herself by her real name during the promotional event for “Marry My Cousin.”
The actress has yet to address the rumour as to whether she will be known by her real name in the future.
