Following previous rumours of their relationship, actress Haruna Kawaguchi and footballer Ko Itakura finally confirmed that they are now husband and wife and will soon become parents too.
In a statement released by both parties on 2 August, the couple shared, “To all of you who have always supported us: We, Ko Itakura and Haruna Kawaguchi, would like to announce that we have gotten married. We are also expecting a baby.”
“We hope that our baby will be born safely and that we can spend each day peacefully. We hope to support each other and build a happy home filled with smiles. Thank you for your continued support,” they added.
It was back in July that Japanese media outlets reported that the couple have supposedly informed their families and close associates about their plans to get married and are coordinating a wedding date after the World Cup.
According to a source, the two dated for about a year and kept in touch via social media. Haruna reportedly would visit the footballer in the Netherlands sometimes, seeing that Ko plays for the Eredivisie club, Ajax.
