Following the spectacular performance at the 40th Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL40), Aina Abdul will officially represent Malaysia at the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026.
Aina, who competed with her song “Kamu” at the Malaysian annual music competition, won the Best Performance Award as well as the Shopee Voted Artist Icon Award, which was determined through fan votes. She mesmerised audiences through a dramatic and energetic performance, featuring visuals of an erupting volcano to symbolise her mounting emotions, alongside the use of props and powerful vocal delivery.
Her movements, expressions and vocals drew the audience into the song’s intense emotions of anger, disappointment and loss, making the performance one of the most memorable moments of the grand finale.
Following AJL, Aina will now take the next step, heading to Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026, the competition that will bring together talented singers from across Asia for a two-hour live music event.
Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Eurovision has been held annually since 1956 and has evolved from a European music competition into a global cultural phenomenon transcending geographical and cultural boundaries.
Aina’s distinctive performances, as well as her creativity in musical composition, fashion and visual elements, are expected to give Malaysia an advantage on the international stage.
The participation also provides Aina with an opportunity to showcase her talent and identity as an entertainer to audiences across Asia.
Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 will take place on Saturday, 14 November 2026, at 9.00pm, and will be broadcast live on TV3 and Tonton.
