Celebrated Hong Kong film producer Shi Nansun has recently passed away.
The producer was revealed to have breathed her last at the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital on 13 July, with family and loved ones by her side.
Former husband and frequent collaborator Tsui Hark revealed that Shi’s immune system began to have problems in 2022. He described her tenacious fight against the disease, saying, “Nansun Shi’s immune system recently suffered a severe decline, and the virus severely infected her body, causing multiple organ failure. She persevered until the very last moment of her life, passing away peacefully surrounded by her relatives and friends.”

Tsui added that Shi and her family had always been very grateful for everyone’s attention, support, and blessings and that she hopes that everyone’s sadness and longing for her will become a source of strength and warmth in accepting her departure.
Memorial and funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date.
Shi was one of the most influential figures in Hong Kong films, having co-founded Film Workshop in 1984, which produced films like “A Better Tomorrow,” “The Killer,” “Once Upon a Time in China,” and “A Chinese Ghost Story”.
She was 75.
