Chinese singer Fandy Su, also known as Huanzi, recently announced that he has formally filed a lawsuit against the production team of the reality show, “Call Me by Fire 2026”.
The singer announced the news on 26 August via video on Weibo, saying that he is unhappy with the editing of his rehearsal and performance footage, which led to him being labelled a “slacker” by the public
Fandy stated that he is currently recovering and apologised for failing to deliver the performance he had hoped for, but stressed that he was by no means unmotivated or unprofessional.
Fandy shared that he had to cancel his solo concert in Guiyang after receiving notification to join the show, causing him to incur losses of more than RMB 1 million. He said that he wouldn’t have paid such a price just to slack off on the show.
Fandy also accused the programme of using seriously unfair editing techniques, including showing him on screen for just 49 seconds, almost entirely in negative scenes such as looking down at his phone. Footage of him working through rehearsals despite being ill, and sweating through late-night practice sessions, was allegedly cut from the final release, resulting in netizens labelling him as negative and unprofessional.
The singer is now demanding that the show release all unedited original footage to prove that he has always been professional. He added that he is not seeking any financial compensation.
