Celebrities young and old recently expressed sadness over the news of veteran actor Patrick Tse’s passing.
Fellow veteran star Liza Wang, who spoke to the media following the news, admitted that she was shocked by the sudden death of her former leading man, saying, “I haven’t seen him recently. Patrick Tse was a good person and took good care of his partners… The first drama I filmed with him was ‘Over the Rainbow,’ when he was dating Deborah Lee and they got married. Then we filmed ‘King of Gamblers,’ around the time Nicholas Tse was born. When we filmed ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes,’ Jennifer Tse was born, and I even became her godmother. We were very close for those years,” she said.
“He dedicated his life to film and television, and many of his works guided us through our youth. I watched his Cantonese films when I was young, and I never expected to have the opportunity to collaborate with him later.”
Jackie Chan posted a photo with Patrick Tse, writing, “Incredibly saddened to hear the news that “Sei Gor” (Mr. Patrick Tse) had passed away. We’ve known each other for so long…. When I was still a stuntman, he was already a big star. He always looked after me on the set, and we went through so many things together. Thinking back at it now, all unforgettable memories. Just as his son, Nic, said: his forever elegant and charming character will always remain in our hearts.”
Charlene Choi shared several photos of her with Patrick on various occasions, and expressed, “My most beloved Sei Gor, have a good journey. Thank you for all the joy. Also all your life wisdom to share. Miss you forever.”
Meanwhile, producer Mui Siu Ching, who had worked with the veteran star in 2020 series, “Forensic Heroes IV”, expressed, “He was meticulous in his work, a great actor, and very stylish; he even knew how to act with his back. Sometimes Patrick was like a child. Once, he played a prank on me and suddenly hit me. I thought there was a problem with the filming, but Patrick just laughed and said he was just asking whether a red or blue tie would look better. Although I miss Patrick, his life was fulfilling and without regrets.”
News of Patrick Tse’s passing was announced on 20 July by his two children, Nicholas Tse and Jennifer Tse, with both saying that their father died after a period of declining health.
He was 89.
