Chinese actress Bai Lu has issued a joint statement with her law firm regarding rumours that have surfaced online, announcing that she will be fully initiating legal proceedings to protect her rights.
According to Bai Lu’s camp, the lawsuit primarily targets six rumour items that have recently spread online, including “falsification of academic credentials,” “falsification of the order of appearances,” “demands for a change in the screenwriting team,” and “close relationships with investors.”
They strongly condemned all of these as “malicious defamation.”
According to the statement, they have already completed legal processes against nine online users who spread rumours on Chinese social media platforms such as Weibo and Douyin. Furthermore, they have secured evidence regarding approximately 60 accounts suspected of infringing her rights.
It is understood that this controversy stemmed from a post by a screenwriter on 10 June, who alleged that Bai Lu changed the screenwriting team before filming began for her new drama “The First Jasmine” and was involved in a billing dispute, sparking heated discussions.
Subsequently, the current screenwriter, Li Zongchen, refuted the claims, stating that the script was adjusted due to quality issues and released relevant evidence.
However, the incident continued to escalate, further involving rumours regarding her educational background and professional qualifications.
