Yang Yang is the latest star to condemn the use of his likeness for content generation.
On 4 May, the actor’s studio issued a statement condemning AI infringement, stating that Yang Yang has never authorised any AI and that legal action will be taken to protect Yang Yang’s legitimate rights and interests against any infringement.
The company also stated that the relevant infringing parties should immediately cease all infringing activities, stop creating, publishing, disseminating, and promoting unauthorised AI-generated content related to Yang Yang, and promptly complete deletion, removal, and other processing to eliminate the related adverse effects.
“After the issuance of this statement, if the relevant parties continue to engage in the aforementioned infringing activities, or fail to take effective measures in a timely manner, our company will take all necessary legal means, including but not limited to complaints, reports, and lawsuits, to resolutely pursue the full legal responsibility of the relevant infringing parties in order to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Mr. Yang Yang,” the studio added.
Recently, the studios of dozens of artistes, including Jackson Yee, Yang Zi, Xiao Zhan, Dilraba Dilmurat, Gong Jun, and Deng Wei, have successively issued rights protection statements, demanding online platforms stop the infringement and remove the relevant videos.
