Japan’s Sony Music has recently released a warning to overzealous fans, following incidents of stalking behaviour against singer-songwriter milet.

On 12 May, milet reposted a statement from her management, which stated that they have observed some individuals engaging in concerning behaviours, and that they kindly ask for understanding and cooperation from the public in order to ensure that the artiste can continue activities safely.

These behaviours include waiting for or ambushing the artiste in places such as streets, stations, airports, or other locations where it may inconvenience the general public or facilities, jumping onto the same public transportation as the artiste, and reserving seats close to the artiste on public transportation such as bullet trains or airplanes and staring at or peeking at her.

Others are “Investigating, monitoring, tailing, or tracking the artiste’s residence or work locations, waiting for or following the artiste at undisclosed work locations, ignoring staff instructions and attempting to approach the artiste, following vehicles carrying the artiste to work sites or accommodations and sharing locations where the artiste was spotted, making it easier for others to wait for or track the artiste.”

“If any such behaviour is confirmed in the future, we will respond firmly, including immediately contacting the police and taking legal action. In addition, fan club members who engage in such conduct may face measures including permanent expulsion from the fan club (without refund),” it added.
