It is the year of Jolin Tsai, as she leads this year’s Golden Melody Awards through her new album, “Pleasure”.
The singer, who made her return to the stage since late last year, was revealed to have been nominated for nine categories, including Best Female Mandarin Singer, Best Mandarin Album, and Song of the Year for the title track.
In a statement released via her record label, Jolin expressed, “Thank you to the Golden Melody Awards jury for today’s dose of dopamine. I hope these songs have, at times, helped you get closer to your sense of joy.”
“I will continue to create with liveliness and honesty,” she said, as reported by Taipei Times.
Jolin will be facing a tough competition in the Best Female Mandarin Singer category from Hung Pei-yu, Chen Hsien-ching, Julia Peng, Erika Liu and Shan Yichun.
This year’s competition received 283 entries from 1,645 albums, totalling 22,616 submissions. After a three-month judging process involving preliminary review, eligibility review, and final review by the jury, the shortlist was finalised, with 167 entries competing for 27 awards.
The ceremony will be held on 27 June at Taipei Arena.
