Making her comeback on the latest season of “Ride the Wind 2026” (also known as “Sisters Who Make Waves”), mainland Chinese singer-actress Tang Yixin recently addressed the reason for her four-year hiatus from the industry.

Tang, who performed Jolin Tsai’s song “I’m Not Yours” in the first round of the show, revealed in a pre-show interview that she hadn’t taken on any new roles since filming “For the First Time in My Life” in 2023 because of serious health problems.

“Those years were right after I gave birth, and I was just starting to take things one step at a time when suddenly, I started having some health issues,” she said.

Tang stated that thick patches of skin inexplicably appeared on her skin, and that it was so bad to the point that even makeup couldn’t cover them. Frustratingly, at the time, there was no particularly clear diagnosis or treatment.

Tang said that ineffective treatment plunged her into deep anxiety and self-isolation, cutting off all social activities and forcing her to temporarily leave the entertainment industry. However, she revealed that her actor husband, Zhang Ruoyun, was fortunately her strongest supporter.

The singer said that every time she was devastated by the changes in her appearance, her husband would always gently say, “There’s no difference, you’re still very beautiful,” and encourage her to view this period of separation as a “reflection period”.

Tang Yixin, who rose to fame for her role as Consort Qi in “Empresses in the Palace,” has been married to Zhang Ruoyun for seven years and has a five-year-old daughter.
