It was revealed that Hong Kong pastor Derek Li Shing-lam, the father of the currently rehabilitating Hong Kong dancer Mo, has passed away.
The news was announced on 25 April by the seminary where he had served, stating, “Former Pastoral Dean Reverend Derek Li passed away peacefully in the Lord today (yesterday), April 25th. Throughout his life, Reverend Li devoted himself to loving the Lord. During his tenure as Dean, he dedicated himself to promoting theological education and pastoral training, making numerous contributions.”
“We earnestly request that brothers and sisters in Christ remember Reverend Li’s wife and family in prayer, and ask the Lord to grant them comfort and peace.”

Reverend Derek Li returned to Hong Kong from Canada to care for his son Mo (real name Li Kai Yin) and had been working tirelessly for over three years to seek medical treatment and justice for his son, who was critically injured in the 2022 MIRROR concert accident, when a giant LED screen fell on top of him while he was dancing on stage.
The pastor also sent out weekly prayer letters to update his son on his condition. Last month, in one of these letters, he revealed that his own health was showing warning signs, possibly indicating chronic cardiovascular problems requiring further investigation.
“It turns out that the person who has been supporting this family also needs to be supported,” he lamented, expressing concern about how much longer he could accompany his son.
