Former TVB actress Kristal Tin recently announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer again, two years after she revealed her early-stage lung adenocarcinoma diagnosis.
The actress shared the sad news on 17 April, stating that cancer cells were found in her lymph nodes this time, which she admitted to be difficult for her to accept.
“At the end of last year there are many plans to complete in 2026, I have always felt that the body is recovering very well and healthy. But suddenly I had a persistent low fever, and my physical condition sometimes good and bad. Suspecting bacterial infection, I went to see Chinese and Western doctors. I went in and out of the hospital, and still cannot find the cause!” she posted.
After the Lunar New Year, Kristal said that she accepted the advice of a doctor and was admitted to the hospital for a lymphatic biopsy, and received confirmation that it was cancer cells.
“With the advent of medicine nowadays, even terminal illnesses that used to be considered terrible, there are now very effective drugs to treat. Having said that, when I heard the news, it was frankly hard to accept,” she said.
In order to focus on her treatment, Kristal announced that all her work plans would have to be put on hold. She also apologised to her partners and friends whom she had not been able to see recently, saying that she would have to be absent for a while and temporarily return to being an audience member.
At the same time, Kristal also expressed her heartache, saying that husband Chapman To must have been under even more pressure than she had in the past six months, having to manage his restaurant, his upcoming new directorial effort, his Lateshow App, and at the same time taking care of her.
The actress revealed that she once asked her husband, “Are you tired?” to which Chapman replied, “No, taking care of you is my responsibility.”
Finally, Kristal reassured everyone not to worry about her, emphasising that she is in Taiwan with its excellent medical system and her treatment is under control.
“I no longer worry about my body – it is only a shell. I no longer worry about others’ opinions – they are only their thoughts. I no longer worry about my family – because no matter what, we will one day part. I no longer fear that time is not enough – liberation can arise in a single moment. I no longer worry about my practice – because I have met the greatest guru in the world,” she expressed.
