Edan Lui recently admitted that he is very understanding of the response to news that he will play the lead in the Hong Kong remake of the hit ’90s Japanese series, “Long Vacation”.
The singer, who was asked about the mixed reactions from netizens following the news, said that he had been paying attention to the online discussion and felt that the reactions were normal.
“When I received the news about the drama, I had the same reaction too. This is a legendary drama, a work that holds many memories, meanings, and growth for everyone. The original male lead is Takuya Kimura, and they want me to play Kimura’s role! So, I completely understand everyone’s feelings,” he joked.
Edan also said that he found it funny that the news of the remake has attracted more viewers to the original drama, causing the ratings to jump from 4th to 2nd place.
“It’s interesting. It’s a good thing that a good series is being watched again,” he said.
At the same time, Edan admitted that he is mentally prepared and felt neither unhappy nor pressured.
He said, “In the current economic downturn, it is rare for an actor to encounter a good script and have filming opportunities. I should do my best to play the role well, and everyone’s voices have become my motivation.”
The original drama tells the story of Minami (Tomoko Yamaguchi), who unexpectedly moves in with her ex-fiancé’s roommate Sena (Takuya Kimura) after being jilted on her wedding day.
