Alex To couldn’t help but be reminded of the late Ng Man Tat as he accepted his first Best Supporting Actor accolade at the 2026 Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA).

The singer-actor recently took to social media to express his thoughts about his win, and thanked many people involved in the film “Sons of the Neon Night,” including director Juno Mak.

He then added a little thank you to the late Ng Man Tat, writing, “In 2005, I had the privilege of working with him, and spent more than two months together. Tat Gor’s attitude and professionalism deeply inspired me to understand what a competent actor is. Since then, with every new script I receive, I’ve been thinking about the characters in a more serious and three-dimensional perspective.”

“If Tat Gor is still alive, he must be the first to share the joy after I won the award,” he added.

Alex previously spoke about the loss of Ng Man Tat, who passed away in 2021, saying that the actor left a deep impression on him after they worked together in the period drama, “Young People of Border Town”.

“Regardless of whether you can see Man Tat on screen, he was always there to deliver his lines opposite me. This attitude towards work has been useful in my career and I have received a lot of praise when I work with other directors and actors. However, in Man Tat’s world, this attitude was a given,” said Alex.
