Zhang Ziyi’s studio has recently congratulated the actress for her nomination in the Best Actress category at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
On 10 February, following the announcement of her nomination, the studio posted, “From the sharpness of Jen Yu, the agility of Fading Moon, the deep affection of Bai Ling, to the integrity of Gong Er, and now the power of Zhan Zhoushi, Zhang Ziyi has honed her initial aspirations through her roles and witnessed her growth through her performances.”
“Congratulations to Zhang Ziyi on her fifth Hong Kong Film Awards nomination for ‘She’s Got No Name’,” they added.
It is noted that the aforementioned names in the statement were the characters that Zhang had played which had garnered her nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
The actress was nominated Best Actress in 2001 for “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” but did not win, and was nominated again in 2003 for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Hero”. Although she did not win both times, the actress did win HKFA Best Actress twice for “2046” in 2005 and “The Grandmaster” in 2014.
Zhang will be facing competition from Ma Li (The Dumpling Queen), Natalie Hsu (First of May), Fish Liew (Someone Like Me) and Fala Chen (Peg O’My Heart).
