Despite having been married for seven years, Venus Wong recently stated that she and husband Derek Tsang have agreed to focus more on their relationship and careers rather than pursuing parenthood.
In a recent interview, the actress, who rarely spoke about her married life with the director, stated her belief that people should live according to their own plans and not according to other people’s expectations.
This decision, she said, stemmed from her own experience of raising her younger brother from a young age, saying that it made her understand deeply that it’s a huge responsibility and a long term one.
Venus said that she practically considers the various issues that will arise when her child grows up, and this overly “rational” thinking has also made her more cautious about having children.
As for her own relationship with Derek, Venus admitted that she has rarely “shown affection” on social media in recent years, believing that social media often becomes a source of pressure to present a certain state to the outside world.
“But what you see is only one side of the story,” she added.
