Louis Koo has recently been named Best Actor by the Hong Kong Film Critics Society for the first time in his acting career.
In an announcement made by the organisation recently, it was revealed that the actor-producer won the accolade for his performance in “Behind the Shadows,” besting other contenders including Tony Leung Kar Fai (“The Shadow’s Edge”) and Carlos Chan (“Someone Like Me”).
According to the jury, Louis won for the fact that his performance shows emotional subtlety, stating that he “precisely grasped the delicate nuances of a complex inner journey, delivering a performance that was both naturalistic and balanced between seriousness and humour.”
Speaking about the award, Louis expressed, “Starting the 2026 with another piece of good news! I’m so happy and excited! Thank you to the Hong Kong Film Critics Society for recognising me and the film. I hope everyone will continue to support good Hong Kong films.”
It is noted that the actor is currently celebrating the success of his new movie, “Back to the Past” at the box office.
