HIM International Music has recently dismissed reports that Ella Chen has bought the lyrics and composition rights of S.H.E songs from them.
According to previous articles from entertainment outlets, the Taiwanese singer reportedly purchased the lyrics and compositions rights of her trio, which allowed her to perform S.H.E’s classic songs during her tour in China.
However, in response to the article, HIM denied this, saying that “the copyrights of the lyrics and music involved in this concert should be authorised by the copyright holders of the lyrics and music or handled through the songwriting management group in accordance with the law, and there is no need to confirm with HIM International Music separately.”
However, HIM International Music emphasised that the copyright of the original recordings of S.H.E. belongs to them.
“If you wish to use them, you must obtain authorisation from HIM International Music. As of now, regarding the S.H.E. recordings used in the reported concert, HIM International Music has not received any authorisation requests or payments from the concert organisers or Ella’s management.”
It also denied reports that Mayday paid a couple of millions in copyright fee for a guest performance of Ella at their Wuhan concert two years ago, saying that the amount was actually NTD 15,000.
