After 50 days of filming, Dilraba Dilmurat ‘s new drama “Although I Can’t Have It All” has wrapped up production.
The drama, which began filming on 24 October in Beijing and Fujian, finally concluded on 15 December. Described as a miniseries, it consists of only 6 episodes, with each approximately 45 minutes long.
Adapted from Japanese author Fumio Yamamoto’s novel, “The Blue or the Other Blue,” the story has Dilraba playing two characters sharing the name Wei Lan, one a glamorous elite writer in Beijing who is struggling with creative block and marital crisis despite her seemingly perfect life; and another a victim of domestic violence in a small town in Fujian who endures her oppressive marriage.
The two Wei Lans unexpectedly meet in a parallel world and discover that the other is their counterpart who made different life choices. This encounter leads them to make a bold decision: to exchange lives and experience each other’s existence.
Yan Yikuan plays He Tao, the city-Wei Lan’s ambiguous love interest, a mature and wise publishing house editor.
Crew members revealed that Dilraba maintained two distinct styles on set: when wearing high heels, her stride was precise. While in flat shoes, her steps were loose and left irregular footprints. She even differentiated her character by adjusting her breathing rhythm; the elite Wei Lan’s breathing was short and forceful, while the housewife Wei Lan’s breathing had a trembling finish.
