Lesley Chiang recently revealed that she has had a tough month due to her recurring depression.
Sharing her situation on social media, the singer said that she has been fighting the battle for the past 12 years with therapy and antidepressants, and that it is sometimes discouraging.
“This time was a bad one. It was the strongest one I felt since maybe 2014, 2015? Which is crazy. But thank God I’m a pro at this now, and I immediately asked for help from my doctor and my husband. I still find two things really helpful during the tough days. My number system, which is to write down out of 10 where your depression is at – 0 for none, 10 being the apocalypse – and have an open book policy with your partner or trusted loved ones so they can know how you are without talking about it. Because sometimes, we just don’t want to talk about it. Again. And again. For 12 damn years!!” she expressed.
Lesley said that the second thing that really helps her is forcing herself to do one thing a day, and take it one day at a time.
“I’m so so lucky to have my husband. He’s the best life partner. He’s a pro at this now, too. And isn’t it funny, the extreme guilt we’ll feel to our partners? Kinda like ‘you deserve so much better’ type of thing? Yeah, I get those thoughts too. But he’s always amazing at reminding me to never apologise for being in my situation,” she said.
However, Lesley assured that she has been feeling happy and stable for about a week now, which means that she has just won another battle.
“Take care of yourselves, guys. Love you, you’re not alone!!” she added.
