Malaysian girl group DOLLA’s new music video, “Question” has now been pulled from all platforms, following the backlash received for being inappropriate.

Universal Music Malaysia released a statement on 15 November, stating that they will always respect cultural values, religious sensitivities and the views of fans.

“We believe creativity and artistic expression must go hand-in-hand with awareness of local norms. Therefore, the decision to remove the music video is the appropriate step to protect harmony and mutual respect,” the label added.

The music video sparked criticisms from netizens following its release due to the group’s revealing outfits, and attracted the attention of celebrity preacher, Ustazah Asma’ Harun, who took to social media to urge the trio to change for the better.

“It is getting worse and worse. What is being shown is no longer entertainment art, but has reached the stage of a performance on a dark web or a club, but openly in the name of art,” she expressed, lamenting the fact that one of the members is a Muslim woman.

Ustazah Asma stated that while two of the members are non-Muslims, they still carry the image of the Malaysian nation that adheres to the 5th Rukun Negara, which is decency and morality.
