Roger Kwok was recently reunited with Hilary Chong at the grand promotional event of the new drama, “The Fading Gold”, five months after they were rumoured to be in a May-December romance.
The actor, who appeared at the same event for the first time with his co-star, was asked about his thoughts on the previous rumour, which stemmed from him giving her a private tennis lesson.
He said, “I wasn’t angry [with the rumour]. I found it funny. But honestly, it’s been a long time since we met. As entertainers, once there are rumours, we don’t even dare to eat together or go out in public. It’s not right!”

When asked if he would invite Hilary to play tennis again, he funnily exclaimed, “Would I still dare? I’m scared of the sun!”, which is a Cantonese pun implying he wants to avoid “the heat”.
As for Hilary, the actress said that she was stunned the first time she read the rumours, and briefly considered avoiding them, but later realised there was no need to overreact.
Co-star Hera Chan chimed in, saying, “I organised the tennis gathering. There were several people present that day, so I don’t understand why the media focused only on Roger and Hilary.”
