Stephen Fung is one proud husband, after Shu Qi won Best Director at the Busan International Film Festival for her directorial debut, “Girl”.
On 27 September, the filmmaker shared a photo of the actress-director on social media with her trophy in hand, and joked, “Won again? There’s no space left at home to put it, Director!”
The post attracted thousands of likes and hundreds of comments, including from Joey Yung, Charlene Choi and Edmond Leung expressing congratulations.
Shu Qi later responded in the comments, “How can there be ‘again’? It’s been a long time. I hope I can squeeze in together with bucket man and Labubu.”
The Bucket Man in this case is a collectible figurine created by Stephen Fung based on his own original anime-style IP.
In her previous acceptance speech at BIFF, Shu Qi thanked her team, her mentor Hou Hsiao-hsien, as well as her said husband, saying, “Thank you to my husband for being so tolerant and marrying a woman who is not often at home.”
