Nick Cheung has recently made his series comeback with the new Youku drama, “Justice is Mine”.

The actor, who appeared at the promotional event of the series alongside co-star Myolie Wu recently, stated that he was actually drawn to the script and the character, who faces conflicts and contradictions as a judge.

Co-star Myolie joked that Nick has so many lines in his script that he looked completely dejected on set.

“I once filmed a courtroom scene for seven consecutive days; it was incredibly gruelling,” Nick said.

Nick deliberately gained weight for his role as a judge

Regarding the difference between filming a TV series and a movie, Nick jokingly said that although filming a TV series is long and tiring, he enjoys it and is very satisfied. When asked whether he would try his hand at a short drama, he said, “There are so many talented people in it, they don’t need me.”

Nick said that his character is not strictly a good guy. To save his son, he kills and exploits many people around him, while at the same time pursuing justice. Nick deliberately gained weight and went white-haired for the role.

As for rumours that he will be returning to comedy soon, Nick said that he will be filming a new movie in Japan with Chung Suet Ying.

“It’s not a comedy, but a heartwarming road movie. The film is about a father and daughter rediscovering their lost bond on a journey, so it’s not too heavy. Chung Suet Ying is one of my favourite actresses of the new generation, and I’m very happy to work with her,” he said.
