The South Korean version of the Hollywood movie, “The Intern” has now begun filming.

The movie, which is helmed by Kim Do-young of “Kim Ji-young: Born 1982” fame, stars award-winning actor Choi Min-sik in the lead opposite Han So-hee.

The original movie stars Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.

The remake follows the original plot, with Han playing the role of Seon-woo, the CEO of a fashion startup who hires 70-year-old widower Gi Ho (Choi Min-sik) to be her intern.

The remake will be produced by Anthology Studios and Warner Bros. Korea.

It is noted that the original was a hit in South Korea when it was released in 2015, grossing USD24 million.
