Chinese actress Sun Lin, who had previously expressed support for actor Yu Menglong amid theories regarding his death, finally spoke out again after a mysterious absence from social media.
Yu Menglong fell to his death on 11 September. Officials had attributed his death to an accidental fall from a building while intoxicated, but the case sparked widespread conspiracy theories and public outcry.
On 21 September, Sun Lin posted on Weibo that she was hit by a flower pot on her way to pick up a package the night before. “I have been in the hospital since then. I am much better today, so I came out to explain. I did not want to cause panic. Thank you for your concern. I will be discharged tomorrow and show all the evidence of the hospital examination. Thank you for your concern and support,” she explained.
She subsequently went absent from social media, sparking more speculations that she was in danger over her opinion regarding Yu Menglong’s death, until 24 September, when she posted a photo of herself getting an IV drip.
She wrote, “Sisters, once I’ve recovered, I’ll update you all. I don’t accept this outcome! Wait for me, my darlings.”
Several celebrities have spoken out on the circumstances surrounding Yu Menglong’s death and call for a thorough investigation, but related posts have all been deleted or taken down.
Sun Lin had also posted on Weibo about the incident. However, her post was removed for allegedly “violating content rules.” She later shared what appeared to be a threatening message telling her not to speak up.
