Mainland Chinese actress Wang Luodan found herself having to address a previous fan harassment incident that occurred in 2019, after she was accused of staging the said incident for publicity.
The whole issue sparked after a netizen took to social media and revealed their interaction with a taxi driver. The said netizen told their followers that the driver of the taxi they were in claimed to have worked in showbiz in the past and that he was once asked to propose to an actress in public after the person who has originally hired to do so did not show up.
Many pointed fingers towards Wang Luodan, who in 2019, had a fan popping the question during a movie event. However, many expressed their doubt regarding the story, seeing that videos that went viral at the time clearly showed how startled and uncomfortable the actress was over the sudden proposal.
In response to the allegation, Wang’s studio released a statement saying that no such staging had occurred, and that the man who proposed to her had actually committed multiple harassments prior.
The company stated that they have never planned, participated in, or authorised any activities related to this, and that they would pursue legal action against those who spread such rumours.
Meanwhile, some netizens have also dug up the man’s past, alleging that he had repeatedly breached security and approached the actress and her family on red carpets and roadshows since 2018. He had also harassed other female artistes and was previously taken into police custody.
